Chances are, you’re probably wondering what exactly a business with heart is. So today I’m sharing my thoughts on what a business with heart looks like, providing some ideas as to how you can make a difference in & through your business, while ensuring you take care of yourself so it’s sustainable in the long run.
The world is changing right in-front of our eyes, and it’s now more important than ever to not only be conscious in our personal lives, but also in how we operate & show up in business. Customers are willing to go out of their way to support a business that they can feel good about. With the current state of the world, we need more people leading with their heart and protecting what’s most important.
A business with heart is one that faces change bravely, stands behind their values, protects our planet and supports those most vulnerable. Their mission is to make a difference in the world around them. To contribute meaningfully by doing work that matters. They believe there’s more to being in business than just profit.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to being a business with heart. Instead it’s led by your heart. Inspired by your passions and values.

As business owners who lead from our heart, we get so caught up in trying to make a difference, that we often forget to take care of ourselves. And while this might be okay in the short term, in the long run it is unsustainable. The most important thing you can do is take care of yourself. Make sure to fill your own cup and give your business & everyone else the over flow.
A Business with Heart OWNER
TAKES CARE OF THEMSELVES
- schedule self care into your calendar, and make it a priority
- delegate tasks, outsource work that doesn’t light you up, and ask for help when needed
- spend time in nature; daily if possible
- ensure you’re eating properly, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and exercising
- be social- especially important for the solo-preneurs and those working from home. Go to a co-working space once a week, attend networking events, or facetime your bestie
- take care of your mental health
- make time for your hobbies, and for finding new ones
- learn how to say “no”
